2019 BSID Early Career Award Submissions – for Clinician Scientist and Basic Scientist Awards

The BSID invites submissions for the 2019 BSID Early Career Award.

There will be one award made for Clinician Scientists and one award for Basic Scientists, for an Early Career investigator within 10 years of their PhD (or equivalent) graduation who has made a significant contribution to the BSID and to dermatological research in the UK. Due consideration will be given for those with career breaks / family circumstances with respect to the 10-year criterion above.

  • max 1 page A4 summary of current research and significance
  • Current CV
  • Letter of Support from the Head of Department

Applicants must be members of the BSID (or have applied to join) and should submit their application to attend the 2019 BSID Annual Meeting in Bradford for consideration by the Chair by Midnight on Friday 11th January 2019.

Travel

Travel Bursaries (Sponsored by BSID) & Specialist Registrar Bursaries
(Sponsored by BAD)

Up to ten bursaries are awarded each year to enable young undergraduate and postgraduate scientists, who are engaged in dermatological research in the UK, to attend the annual BSID meeting.

Applications should comprise:

  • 250 word summary of current research and significance
  • One page CV
  • Accompanying letter from the Head of Department, confirming that the applicant is engaged in skin research

Preference is given to applicants who have submitted an abstract, are the presenting author and have not previously received a Travel Award.

Applicants must be members of the BSID (or have applied to join) and should submit their application to attend the 2019 BSID Annual Meeting in Bradford for consideration by the Chair by Midnight on Friday 11th January 2019.

Prizes

The BSID awards 3 presentation prizes at the annual meeting:

Oral Presentation Prize

Awarded to the best oral presentation at the annual meeting of the Society. Presentations are judged by the BSID committee and the award is announced at the end of the meeting.

Registrar’s Prize

Awarded to the best oral presentation by a trainee in dermatology at the annual meeting of the Society. The award is announced at the end of the meeting.

Poster Prize

Awarded to the best poster presentation at the annual meeting of the Society. Presentations will be judged by the BSID committee and the award will be announced at the end of the meeting.

Medal

The BSID Medal for Contributions to Dermatological Research
