Minutes of the Annual General Meeting – Dundee 2016

- Minutes of the Annual General Meeting 2015
The minutes were circulated. Edel O’Toole corrected that she was present at the AGM. Otherwise the minutes were approved as an accurate record.
- Matters arising from 2015.
The Chair outlined the nature of the pharma liaison meeting held on the 4th April 2016 between the committee and representatives from the 2016 sponsors (Celgene, AbbVie, Lilly, Sanofi and Stiefel). This was a productive meeting and minutes will be circulated to the committee and industry attendees in due course. The outcomes were principally that:
- Manchester 2017 could include opportunities to sponsor sessions
- Manchester 2017 will include meetings with Industry representatives from their R&D arms (as well as Med Ed/Marketing as usual)
The members expressed their support for these outcomes and the process will be taken forward by the next Chair.
- Chair’s report
The Annual BSID Conference 2015. This was held in Southampton. This was well organized by Local Organizer Dr M Ardern-Jones. A new development was the re-badging and theming of the Monday (Including THESIS and Skin Club) as a ‘Clinical Translational day’ which was attended by clinicians on a day rate basis. Overall this innovation was deemed a great success and will be continued. Prizes were:

Delegates were from the UK (159), China (2), Ethiopia (1), Ireland (2), Netherlands (2), New Zealand (1), Singapore (7), USA (2 )
For the main meeting, abstract submissions were down, and we had 28 Original research oral presentations, 22 Original research poster presentations. With the Clinical translational day, overall, the meeting hosted 15 invited speakers.
The morning topic of the Clinical Translational day was “Clinical trials and epidemiology”. Speakers were Prof Julia Newton-Bishop; Dr Sinead Langan, London; Prof Tamar Nijsten, Belgium; Dr Carsten Flohr, London; Prof Hywel Williams, Nottingham.
The afternoon topic of the Clinical Translational Day was “Dermatogenetics”. Speakers were: Prof Maurice Van Steensel, Dundee; Dr Robyn Hickerson, Dundee (on behalf of Prof Irwin McLean); Dr Lavina Paternoster, Bristol; Prof David Kelsell, London; Dr James Chen, New York (on behalf of Prof Angela Christiano).
Keynote lecturer and BAD speaker: Prof Hywel Williams, Nottingham. Distinguished Local Lecture: Prof. Angus Lamond, Dundee. BPG lecture: Prof. Peter Karran, London. Special guest lecture (thanks to Celgene): Prof Frank Nestle, London. Special invited lecture: Prof Birgit Lane, Singapore.

Location of future meetings. The BSID meeting in 2017 will be in Manchester (3-5th April, 2017). The 2018 BSID meeting will be held in London. 2019- Bradford.
- Treasurer’s report
This was presented by Dr Helen Young. The Southampton meeting made a surplus of £6,217. As of December 31st 2014: Current Account £ 49,003.80; Subscription account £6,917.16; Savings account £ 70,381.34.
- Committee membership
Michael Ardern-Jones reaches the end of his Chair tenure and stepped down from the committee. The BSID Chair will be taken over by Dr Helen Young.
Sara Brown reaches the end of her 3 year period and stepped down from the committee. Ryan O’Shaughnessy reached the end of his 3 year period, asked to be put forward for a second term and was duly elected.
Nomination for election onto the committee were received for: Girish Patel, Cardiff; Miriam Wittman, Leeds. After the appropriate discussion and voting, both were duly elected.
